Artist Statement:

“Howdy! I’m Shelby DeGarmo (they/them). I really like to paint, like a lot! Painting has become a pillar of my life where I feel like things make sense. As an autistic person, I grew up often feeling unwelcome, confused, and incompetent, but through art and fantasy, I’ve found ways to explore relationships, simple joys, laughter, and connection. Art has been a safe space for me to explore my heart and mind- and I hope to provide that space to others unconditionally through community in my art.”
